Mission vision

Mission vision

The Residents 'Council De Kernen is an independent organization for and by the tenants of De Kernen that defends tenants' interests.

Mission

The mission of the Residents Council is to promote a good living environment for the tenants of De Kernen. We want the tenants of De Kernen to feel comfortable in their home and living environment. The Residents Council represents and promotes the interests of all tenants and house hunters of De Kernen.

Vision

Living is more than just a roof over your head. The roof must also be affordable, have a pleasant, vital living environment and residents must be able to participate in society. In our view, housing is closely linked to welfare and care. There are therefore various parties, such as the corporation, the municipality, care and welfare organizations that work together on good housing and living. We want the tenant's interest to be taken into account when making decisions. That is why we are committed to highlighting tenants' interests.

Good living / Themes

Residents' council De Kernen understands by good living that every tenant of De Kernen has a high-quality, affordable roof over his head in a pleasant living environment.

This means that we are committed to the following themes:

Sufficient social housing to serve the demand of the target group now and in the future; Affordable housing costs (rent and energy); Qualitatively well-maintained, comfortable, energy-efficient, safe and healthy homes; Livable neighborhoods - with maintained greenery, sidewalks and streets, ample parking space, with playgrounds for children, meeting points, good public transport and shops and other facilities in the neighborhood Optimal service from De Kernen to the tenants; Good communication with our supporters.

For this:

We consult with, we advise, solicited and unsolicited, and we assess the policy of De Kernen; We regularly consult with De Kernen on all kinds of matters that affect the interest of tenants, whereby our focus is on matters that affect several tenants; Together with the municipalities and De Kernen, we draw up performance agreements containing agreements on matters that affect the tenants' interests. We prefer to see the care and welfare parties also join this; We collect wishes / needs or complaints from tenants by keeping in touch with the tenants, for example during residents 'meetings, the Day of' t Huren, home visits, telephone contacts, customer panels and questionnaires. We include the collective wishes or complaints in the discussions with and advice to De Kernen. In case of individual complaints or wishes, we advise tenants what to do or whom to approach.

2021 Current affairs

We see the following news in random order:

The regions have had to draw up a Regional Energy Strategy and the municipalities have to draw up subsequent implementation programs. These programs that deal with climate adaptation and energy transition also affect tenants' interests. This therefore requires a vision from the Residents' Council (and of course also from De Kernen). Double aging, explosive growth in the number of people suffering from dementia, “care becoming scarcer”, living at home for longer, greater need for care, outflow from care, influx of status holders. In addition to sufficient housing, this also requires proper care when living, i.e. vision from and good partnerships between organizations. Heat stress. Due to climate change, we have hotter summers, combined with increasingly better insulated houses, flat roofs and large glass surfaces, especially in high-rise buildings, causing heat stress. Temperatures in the house above 26 degrees for days on end. Very annoying for everyone and for some, such as heart patients and the elderly, even dangerous. Sustainability. Not only does energy need to be more consciously used, the water also requires the necessary care. Purified water is now used to flush the toilets and rainwater is drained through the sewage system. Matters that are increasingly being raised to tackle in addition to the greening of the gardens and public areas. Affordability is under pressure. Pensions have not risen for years, and there is also a pandemic with economic consequences.
